Specifics of Thematic Apperception Test formal analysis using the SCORS scoring system in women diagnosed with bulimia nervosa

Abstract:

V diplomové práci byla formou exploratorní klinické studie zjišťována specifika analýzy příběhů TAT u žen s diagnostikovanou mentální bulimií v porovnání se ženami bez psychiatrické diagnózy. Příběhy byly analyzovány pomocí skórovacího systému SCORS Drew Westena, který se zaměřuje na zjišťování charakteristik objektních vztahů a sociální kognice. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 10 žen s mentální bulimií, kontrolní skupinu tvořilo 10 zdravých žen, vzorky byly vyrovnané dle věku, vzdělání a rodinného stavu. celkem bylo analyzováno 220 příběhů. Použity byly tabule 1, 2, 3BM, 4, 5, 6GF, 7GF, 9GF, 13MF, 18GF a 8GF. Výzkumná zjištění exploratorní studie jsou formulována jako hypotézy, které by bylo vhodné dále ověřovat na rozsáhlejším vzorku za pomoci statistických metod. Výsledky naznačují nižší skóry u bulimiček na 6 škálách SCORS: Diferencovanost Self a komplexnost reprezentace druhých, Afektivní kvalita reprezentací, Kapacita k emočnímu vkladu do vztahů, Porozumění sociální kauzalitě, Prožívání a zvládání agresivních impulzů a Sebedůvěra. Zjištění jsou diskutována s podobně zaměřenými zahraničními výzkumy a v závěru práce jsou formulována doporučení pro další výzkum problematiky.

Abstract:

The thesis in a form of exploratory clinical study investigated specifics of TAT stories analysis with women diagnosed with bulimia nervosa compared to women without a psychiatric diagnosis. Stories were analyzed by Drew Westen’s "SCORS" scoring system which focuses on identifying the characteristics of object relations and social cognition. 10 women diagnosed with bulimia nervosa as well as 10 healthy women as a control group participated in the research. The samples were matched by age, education level and marital status. A total of 220 stories were analyzed. Tables 1, 2, 3BM, 4, 5, 6GF, 7GF, 9GF, 13MF, 18GF, and 8GF were used. Findings of the exploratory study are formulated as hypotheses that should be further verified on a larger sample and analyzed using statistical methods. The results indicate lower scores in bulimics on following 6 SCORS scales: Differentiation of Self and Complexity of Representations of People, Affective Quality of Representations, Capacity for Emotional Investment in Relationships, Understanding of Social Causality, Experiencing and Coping with Aggressive impulses, and Confidence. Findings are compared with foreign researches on similar topic. Recommendations for further research are presented in the conclusion.
