Qualitative evaluation of a method measuring attachment hierarchy in children

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo kvalitativní zhodnocení nově vznikající metody metody na měření vazbové hierarchie u dětí. Metoda spočívala ve vyprávění příběhů s figurkami, které děti podle svých preferencí umísťovaly na miniaturu schodů. Kvalitativní analýza na vzorku 40 dětí ve věku 4-7 let identifikovala problematické oblasti metody, které souvisí s charakteristikami vývojového období předškolního věku. Součástí práce bylo zmapování výskytu vazbových osob a jejich zastoupení podle významnosti. Nejčastěji uváděnými vazbovými osobami byli kamarádi, poté rodiče a sourozenec. Reliabilita metody byla zkušebně ověřena metodou test-retest, a ačkoliv se ukázalo, že odpovědi dětí jsou poměrně stabilní, výsledky jsou pouze orientační kvůli množství faktorů, které do měření vstupovaly. Limity výzkumu jsou společně s návrženými úpravami pro budoucí vývoj metody rozebrány v dizkuzi.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was a qualitative evaluation of a new method for measuring attachment hierarchy in children. The method consisted of storytelling with figures that children placed on model of stairs according to their preferences. Qualitative analysis on a sample of 40 children aged 4-7 years identified problematic areas of the method related to characteristics of the developmental period of preschool age. The work included variety mapping of attachment figures and their representation in order of importance. The most frequently reported attachment figures were friends, followed by parents and siblings. The reliability of the method was tested by test-retest technique and although the children's responses proved to be fairly stable, the results are only indicative due to the number of factors that impacted the measurement. The limitations of the study, along with suggested modifications for future research, are presented in the discussion.
