The rights and obligations of journalists in the context of journalistic ethics

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na etickou rovinu žurnalistiky. Poukazuje na morální pravidla, zásady a cíle ovlivňující novinářskou obec. Teoretická část vymezuje základní pojmy typické pro novinářské prostředí, poukazuje na etické diskursy a prezentuje tím vliv médií na společnost. Metodologická část se věnuje etickému kodexu organizace zvané Syndikát novinářů, dále také etickým stanovám organizace, etické komisi coby kontrolnímu orgánu a také deklaraci principů novinářského chování. Výzkumná část popisuje vývoj vzniku kodexů, jejich smysl a komentuje etický kodex novinářů deníku Mladá fronta Dnes. V další části poukazuje na rozhodovací procesy v rámci mediálních organizací. Analytická - reflexivní část diskutuje etickou odpovědnost novináře v každodenní praxi a poukazuje na nejčastější etické prohřešky v médiích.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the ethical level of journalism, which refers to the moral rules, principles and objectives affecting the journalistic community. The theoretical part defines basic concepts typical for the journalistic environment. This part highlights the ethical discourse and shows the influence of media on society. The methodological part deals with the ethical code of association, which is called the Syndicate of Journalists. Furthermore it deals with an ethical by laws of this association, and ethical committee which functions as supervisory authority. Last but not least this part describes the declaration of principles of journalistic conduct. The research section describes the development of codices, their meaning, and it comments on ethical codex by journalists of the daily Mladá fronta Dnes. The next section refers to the decision-making processes in terms of the media organizations. Analytical - reflexive part discusses the ethical responsibility of journalists in their daily practice, and highlights the most common ethical transgressions in the media.
