Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Interpretace Hemingwayovy novely „Stařec a moře“ (literárně-psychologický rozbor)“ pojednává o literárně-psychologické interpretaci novely Stařec a Moře Ernesta Hemingwaye. Záměrem autora bylo nastínění možné interpretace známého díla z pohledu hlubinné psychologie, která svou analýzou produktů duševní činnosti nabízí možnost odhalit nové mimoliterární vztahy a souvislosti. Autor vycházel z předpokladu, že novela Stařec a Moře obsahuje silné symboly a archetypy, které Hemingway do svého díla nevědomě zakomponoval. Cílem práce bylo vysvětlit tyto symboly v novele, určit odpovídající archetypy a interpretovat je ve ve vztahu k autorovu duševnímu rozpoložení. Interpretace se opírá o teorii Carla Gustava Junga, zejména části zahrnující pojednání o vědomí, nevědomí a archetypech. Teoretická část práce seznamuje stručně čtenáře se základními údaji o Ernestu Hemingwayovi a novele Stařec a Moře a prezentuje teoretické pojetí psýché dle teorie Carla Gustava Junga. Práce je podložena primární literaturou sestávající z Jungových děl, životopisů a díla Ernesta Hemingwaye, psychologickou interpretací symbolů a sekundární literaturou z tvorby a výzkumu literárních kritiků a akademické veřejnosti. Analytická část prezentuje postupně jednotlivé části novely Stařec a Moře, jmenuje hlavní symboly a jejich obrazy a určuje archetypy. Vyprávění je interpretováno ve vztahu k nevědomému zapracování aktuálních duševních pohnutek autora do jeho díla.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis „The interpretation of Hemingway´s The Old Man and the Sea (Literary-psychological analysis)“ deals with the literary-psychological analysis of Ernest Hemingway´s novella The Old Man and the Sea. The aim of the author was to offer an interpretation of the known work through analytical psychology. The analysis of intellectual outcomes offers the possibility to reveal new connections that may lead beyond the literary frame. The author of this thesis assumed the presence of archetypes and their images in the novella, distilled unconsciously into the narrative by Ernest Hemingway. The aim of this work was to interpret these symbols, to determine the corresponding archetypes and interpret these in connection to author´s mental condition. The interpretation reflects the theory of Carl Gustav Jung, namely its expositions of conscious, unconscious and archetypes. The theoretical part informs briefly about the essential data of Hemingway´s life and of his novella The Old Man and the Sea. It also presents Jung´s theory of psyche. This work is grounded in the primary literature consisting of Jung´s works, Hemingway´s biographies and his literary work and of psychological explications of symbols. The secondary literature presents outputs and researches of literary critics and academic public. The analytical part presents sequences of the novella, lists the main symbols and images and determines the archetypes. Consequently the narration is interpreted with regard to author´s unconscious integration of his psychological matters into his work.
