Power and strength in international relations.

Abstract:

In the context of international relations, power and force are two closely related concepts but they are not identical. The diploma thesis aims to identify the main sources of forces that condition power in contemporary international relations, and to predict their future development at the global level. Various scientific methods such as analysis, synthesis, comparison and induction were used to achieve this goal. The first part of the work is devoted to the theoretical starting points of the investigated issue, focusing on the realist school in international relations and the definition of the concepts of power and force in this area. Furthermore, the criteria and factors on the basis of which states are divided into great powers, superpowers and emerging powers are discussed here. The balance of power which plays a key role in international relations is also an important topic. The second part of the thesis deals with the development of international relations after the Second World War, specifically the development in Germany, Great Britain, France and Russia. These countries differ in their approach to the study of international relations and their emphasis on different factors and criteria in defining power and strength. In the last part of the thesis, power and strength are examined in the geopolitics of the 21st century. Current powers and the sources of their power are analyzed here, and the future development of international relations based on power and strength is predicted. This development is examined on the basis of previous analyzes and comparisons of data and knowledge from professional articles dealing with power and strength. Based on these data, possible development trends in the future are predicted. The result of the thesis are conclusions supported not only by empirical data, but also by theoretical concepts. The work should contribute to a better understanding of power and strength in international relations and to the prediction of future developments at the global level.

Abstract:

V kontexte medzinárodných vzťahov sú moc a sila dva úzko súvisiace pojmy, ale nie sú totožné. Diplomová práca má za cieľ identifikovať hlavné zdroje síl, ktoré podmieňujú moc v súčasných medzinárodných vzťahoch, a predikovať ich budúci vývoj na globálnej úrovni. K dosiahnutiu tohto cieľa boli využité rôzne vedecké metódy, ako napríklad analýza, syntéza, komparácia a indukcia. Prvá časť práce sa venuje teoretickým východiskám skúmanej problematiky, pričom sa zameriava na realistickú školu v medzinárodných vzťahoch a vymedzenie pojmov moci a sily v tejto oblasti. Ďalej sa tu rozoberajú kritériá a faktory, na základe ktorých sa štáty rozdeľujú na veľmoci, superveľmoci a vznikajúce mocnosti. Dôležitou témou je aj mocenská rovnováha, ktorá zohráva kľúčovú úlohu v medzinárodných vzťahoch. Druhá časť práce sa zaoberá vývojom medzinárodných vzťahov po druhej svetovej vojne, konkrétne vývojom v Nemecku, Veľkej Británii, Francúzsku a Rusku. Tieto krajiny sa líšia v prístupe ku skúmaniu medzinárodných vzťahov a ich dôraze na rôzne faktory a kritériá pri vymedzovaní moci a sily. V poslednej časti práce sú moc a sila skúmané v geopolitike 21. storočia. Analyzujú sa tu súčasné mocnosti a zdroje ich sily a predpokladá sa budúci vývoj medzinárodných vzťahov založený na moci a sile. Tento vývoj sa skúma na základe predchádzajúcich analýz a porovnaní dát a poznatkov z odborných článkov pojednávajúcich o moci a sily. Na základe týchto údajov sú predpovedané možné vývojové trendy v budúcnosti. Výsledkom diplomovej práce sú závery podložené nielen empirickými dátami, ale aj teoretickými konceptmi. Práca by mala prispieť k lepšiemu pochopeniu moci a sily v medzinárodných vzťahoch a k predpovedi budúceho vývoja na globálnej úrovni.
