Collaborative Economy in Accommodation Services: Airbnb in the City of Prague from Superhost’s Perspective

Abstract:

V diplomové práci se zabýváme fenoménem kolaborativní ekonomiky v ubytovacích službách, kdy detailně pojednáváme o pojmu Superhostitel v rámci platformy Airbnb v hlavním městě České republiky Praze. V teoretické rovině je demonstrován současný stav Airbnb v Praze, v němž Superhostitelé podnikají, v kontextu roustoucího trendu regulací v podání populárních turistických metropolí v reakci na podnikatelská rozmach platformy, jež přispívá k nadměrné turistice. V analytické části zkoumáme a vyhodnocujeme na základě ekonomických dat vývoj superhostitelů v rozmezí let 2019 - 2022, do něhož navíc výrazně promluvila koronavirová krize. Ve studii rovněž představujeme vlastní hypotetické návrhy, jak na současnou situaci v Praze reagovat z perspektivy Airbnb a hlavního města Prahy.

Abstract:

In the diploma thesis, we deal with the phenomenon of the collaborative economy in accommodation services, where we discuss in detail the term Superhost within the Airbnb platform in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague. On a theoretical level, the current state of Airbnb in Prague, in which Superhosts do business, is demonstrated, in the context of the growing trend of regulations introduced by popular tourist metropolises in response to the business boom of the platform, which contributes to overtourism. In the analytical part, we examine and evaluate, on the basis of economic data, the development of superhosts in the period 2019 - 2022, which was also significantly affected by the coronavirus crisis. In the study, we also present our own hypothetical proposals on how to respond to the current situation in Prague from the perspective of Airbnb and the capital city of Prague.
