The case study of a child with dyscalculia attending the second grade of the elementary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na specifickou poruchu počítání, dyskalkulii. Konkrétně se zabývá problematikou dyskalkulie u žákyně 9. ročníku základní školy, se kterou probíhala spolupráce po dobu šesti měsíců. Při práci se žákyní byly uplatňovány tyto metody: analýza dokumentačních materiálů žákyně, rozhovor s učiteli, pozorování při vyučovacích hodinách, případová studie žákyně a analýza produktů žákyně. Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je popis dlouhodobé systematické práce s dyskalkulickou dívkou, který obsahuje vlastní poznámky k realizované práci, a vytvoření nástroje, který jí pomůže překonat problémy v matematice. Tento nástroj může posloužit i dalším žákům s touto poruchou, respektive jejich učitelům. Dílčím cílem je vytvoření materiálů pro práci s dyskalkulickými žáky a zhodnocení metod použitých v této případové studii. V závěru práce je navrženo další opatření při práci s žákyní.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on the specific diabilities of arithmetical skills, dyscalculia. It is specifically focused on a student from the 9th class who suffers from dyscalculia. This work with this student lasted 6 months. Those methods were applied while working with the pupil: analysis of documents about the student, interview with teachers, observation of the lessons, an example study of the student and analysis of the student´s products. The main aim of this thesis is to describe long term systematic work with a student suffering from dyscalculia, it provides notes about the work which was realized and the creation of a tool to help her solve problems in Mathematics. This tool may serve other students with the same disorder or their teachers. Another (partial) target of the thesis was to create materials for use with students who suffer from dyscalculia and the evaluation of methods used in this thesis. At the end of this work some other solutions for the work with the student are provided.
