Understanding the importance of KPI's on employees and volunteers in an NGO

Abstract:

Roli nevládních organizací (NGO) nelze podceňovat. Je to kvůli sociálním příspěvkům, které odvádějí národům i na místní úrovni. Cílem této studie bylo prozkoumat klíčové ukazatele výkonnosti, které mohou ovlivnit výkon zaměstnanců a dobrovolníků patřících k nevládním organizacím v Ghaně. K dosažení tohoto cíle výzkum zvolil kvantitativní výzkumný přístup. Nástrojem pro sběr dat byl strukturovaný dotazník. Tento nástroj byl distribuován jednoduchou metodou náhodného výběru do vzorku o velikosti sedmdesáti respondentů. Data získaná od respondentů byla analyzována pomocí deskriptivní a regresní analýzy. Na konci analýzy bylo zjištěno, že umístění NNO jako indikátor výkonu má významný vliv na výkon zaměstnanců a dobrovolníků. Analýzou bylo také zjištěno, že výkon NNO na provozní úrovni rovněž pozitivně ovlivňuje výkon zaměstnanců a dobrovolníků významně. Z výzkumu tedy vyplynulo, že nevládní organizace jsou na tom lépe, pokud podávají dobré výkony a jsou také příznivě umístěny, protože právě díky těmto ukazatelům budou následně dobře fungovat i zaměstnanci. Dále se doporučuje, aby nevládní organizace investovaly do školicích a rozvojových programů pro své zaměstnance s cílem zlepšit jejich výkonnost.

Abstract:

The role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) cannot be underestimated. This is due to the social contributions they make to nations even at the local level. The objective of this study was to examine the key performance indicators that can influence the output of employees and volunteers belonging to NGOs in Ghana. To achieve this objective, the research adopted quantitative research approach. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire. This instrument was distributed in a simple random sampling method to a sample size of seventy respondents. The data obtained from the respondents were analyzed through descriptive and regression analysis. At the end of the analysis, it was found that the location of an NGO as an indicator of performance has a significant effect on the output of employees and volunteers. It was also found through the analysis that the performance of NGOs at the operational level also positively affects the performance of employees and volunteers significantly. It was concluded from the research therefore that NGOs are better placed if they perform well and are also favorably located because it is through these indicators that employees will consequently perform well also. It is recommended additionally that NGOs should invest in training and development programs for their staff in order to improve their performance.
