Fibonacci numbers and their relationship with other mathematical concepts

Abstract:

Fibonacciho a Lucasova čísla, zlatý řez a řetězové zlomky jsou pojmy, které poutají pozornost matematiků i filozofů již několik staletí. Postupně byly vyšetřovány vlastnosti těchto objektů a zajímavé, někdy až fascinující, souvislosti mezi nimi. Tato práce si v prvé řadě klade za cíl shromáždit poznatky o uvedených pojmech, srozumitelně je vyložit a poukázat na pozoruhodné souvislosti mezi nimi v ucelené podobě. Mapuje dosud vyšlé publikace a celou tématiku předkládá ve formě učebnice. Je určena zvídavým studentům, ale stejně dobře může posloužit i kantorům, které zaujala problematika týkající se Fibonacciho a Lucasových čísel. Text je rozdělen do šesti kapitol a je rozšířen o historické poznámky. Dále je v práci vyřešeno 70 úloh vztahujících se k tématice Fibonacciho a Lucasových čísel, zlatého řezu a řetězových zlomků.

Abstract:

Fibonacci and Lucas Number, Golden Section and Continued Fractions are concepts which have been attracting the attention of mathematicians and philosophers for several centuries. There has been an extensive investigation of characteristics of these objects which also took account of the interesting, almost fascinating, connections between them. The primary aim of this thesis is to bring together pieces of knowledge about the above mentioned concepts, to present them intelligibly and to refer to remarkable connections between them in a comprehensive form. This thesis also gives on overview of publications issued so far and presents the entire theme in the form of a textbook. The textbook is intended for inquisitive students as well as to teachers who are interested in problems related to Fibonacci and Lucas Numbers. The text itself is divided into six chapters with historical notes included. It also contains solutions to 70 exercises related to Fibonacci and Lucas Numbers, Golden Section and Continued Fractions.
