Communication strategy of local governments focusing on the capital city of Prague

Abstract:

Cílem práce je analyzovat a následně zhodnotit způsob a efektivitu komunikační strategie hlavního města Prahy. V teoretické části práce definuji pojmy jako komunikace, nástroje komunikace, které dále dělím na tradiční a moderní a seznamuji čtenáře se subjekty, které se komunikace účastní. V praktické části nejprve využívám metodu analýzy, kde popisuji, jak je pro město a veřejnost oboustranná komunikace důležitá a současně se snažím nastínit způsob, jakým komunikuje hlavní město Praha. Z výsledků analýzy je zjištěno, že o komunikaci by se měl starat především Magistrát hlavního města Prahy, který může s občany komunikovat skrze internet, noviny, současně je také možné, aby se veřejnost účastnila pravidelného jednání zastupitelstva. Druhá část praktické práce byla zpracována na základě dotazníkového šetření. Jeho zaměření se týkalo především spokojenosti občanů s komunikací hlavního města Prahy a jestli cítí, že jejich informovanost je dostatečná. Z výsledků je zjištěná poměrně vysoká chuť obyvatel podílet se na rozvoji města, kterou, ale brzdí jejich nedokonalá informovanost o problematice. Ačkoliv je v komunikaci hlavního města za poslední období znát jistý pokrok, je zde velký prostor pro další zlepšení.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to analyze and subsequently evaluate the way and effectiveness of the Prague City Communication Strategy. In the theoretical part of the thesis I define terms such as communication, tools of communication, which I further divide into traditional and modern and inform readers about subjects involved in communication. In the practical part I first use the method of analysis, where I describe how important the city and the public are and how I am trying to outline the way the capital city of Prague communicates. From the results of the analysis it is found out that the Prague City Hall, which can communicate with the citizens through the Internet, newspapers, should take care of the communication, and it is also possible for the public to attend regular meetings of the assembly. The second part of the practical work was processed on the basis of a questionnaire survey. His focus was primarily on the satisfaction of citizens with the communication of the City of Prague and if they feel that their awareness is sufficient. The results show a relatively high taste of the population to participate in the development of the city, which is hampered by their imperfect awareness of the issue. Although there has been some progress in the capital's communications over the past period, there is much room for further improvement.
