Free City od Danzig (1920-1939) as a solution of historical political-geographic problem

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o tématu v českém prostředí příliš neprobádaném. Konkrétně se jedná o téma Svobodného města Gdaňsk, tedy městského státu existujícího v období mezi dvěma světovými válkami. Časově je výzkum rozdělen do dvou období. První část práce zkoumá hlavní faktory, které byly důležité pro vznik tohoto státu a dává odpověď na otázku, které z těchto faktorů byly pro klíčové a do jaké míry se jednotlivé faktory na vzniku podílely. V práci je také vysvětleno množství teoretických pojmů souvisejících s tímto tématem. Zároveň je zde uveden popis historie Svobodného města Gdaňsk, spolu s tím jsou zde popsány geopolitické, ekonomické a etnické faktory. Dalším přínosem práce jsou možné alternativní řešení, která mohla být použita namísto vyhlášení Svobodného města Gdaňsk a zhodnocení jejich proveditelnosti. Pro výzkum v této práci bylo použito množství cizojazyčných zdrojů, zejména v polském a německém jazyce, z nichž velká část je v českém prostředí zcela neznámá a dosud zde nebyly nikým použity pro výzkum. Druhá část práce, se zabývá obdobím po zániku Svobodného města Gdaňsk a ve čtyřech menších časových úsecích analyzuje podobu a míru rezonance dozvuků po tomto státním útvaru.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with a topic that is very unexplored in the Czech environment. Concretely the thesis deals with a topic of the Free City of Danzig, a city-state that existed between the two world wars. The research is divided into two periods. The first part of the thesis examines the main factors that were important for the constitution of this state and tries to find an answers on the question of which of these factors were key and how the individual factors contributed to the emergence. The thesis also explains several theoretical concepts related to this topic. At the same time, there is a description of the history of the Free City of Danzig, along with geopolitical, economic, and ethnic factors. The thesis also provides other possible alternative solutions that could have been used instead of announcing the Free City of Danzig and evaluating their feasibility. Several foreign language sources were used for the research in this thesis, especially in the Polish and German languages, a large part of them is completely unknown in the Czech environment and has not yet been used by anyone for research. The second part of the thesis deals with the period after the abolition of the Free City of Danzig and in four smaller time periods analyses the form and degree of resonances after this state department.
