Abstract:

In Slovakia, approximately 75 municipalities were erased from the map as a result of the construction of water works or the transfer of residents to towns. This also happened during the construction of the Liptovská Mara waterworks. Although there is water in many places in the villages today, they live on in the minds of the people who remember them, whether they were their homes. The aim of the project was to photograph the places where these villages were located and to create a complex photographic file that shows their actual condition years after the displacement, as well as the overall current condition of the Liptovská Mary locality. I follow forgotten places in connection with the inhabitants of the locality, who still have a close relationship with them. About 1,500 family lived in the area, who are gradually disappearing. At the dam, e.g. they preserved fragments of the original places - cemeteries, roads, foundations of houses of extinct villages, which are accessible when the water level is low. Somewhere, people built monuments, whether they return to them every year at joint events, others remain forgotten. Even though the village was moved only a few kilometers, many people feel the need to remember the specific place of their original home. The ensemble seeks answers to the questions of why belonging and relation to the place of our life are so important. The project reflects the transformation of the landscape as a result of human intervention, it reflects on the changes that humans cause in the landscape through their activities, on their short-term and long-term consequences - a change in the map of the territory, the overall appearance and character, the climate of the given area, the burden on the environment due to tourism and influx tourists. He also notes the positive contribution of the flooded area - the dam has a so-called bird island, where birds nest and replenish their food and strength during their annual migration. It points out how nature adapts to new man-made conditions and how the inhabitants and visitors of the site can respect nature nowadays.

Abstract:

Na Slovensku bolo v dôsledku stavby vodných diel či presunu obyvateľov do miest vymazaných z mapy približne 75 obcí. To sa stalo aj pri výstavbe vodného diela Liptovská Mara. I keď na mnohých miestach obcí je dnes voda, v mysliach ľudí, ktorí si ich pamätajú, či boli ich domovom, žijú ďalej. Zámerom projektu bolo fotograficky zachytiť miesta, kde sa tieto obce nachádzali a vytvoriť komplexný fotografický súbor, ktorý zobrazuje ich skutočný stav roky po vysídlení, ako aj celkový súčasný stav lokality Liptovskej Mary. Sledujem zabudnuté miesta v súvislosti s obyvateľmi lokality, ktorí k nim doteraz majú blízky vzťah. Na území žilo zhruba 1500 rodín, ktoré sa postupne vytrácajú. Pri priehrade sa napr. zachovali fragmenty pôvodných miest – cintoríny, cesty, základy domov zaniknutých obcí, ktoré sú dostupné, keď je hladina vody nízka. Niekde ľudia postavili pamätníky, či sa k nim každý rok na spoločných podujatiach vracajú, iné zostávajú zabudnuté. I keď bola obec presunutá len o niekoľko kilometrov, mnoho ľudí cíti potrebu pripomínať si konkrétne miesto pôvodného domova. Súbor hľadá odpovede na otázky, prečo sú príslušnosť a vzťah k miestu nášho života také dôležité. Projekt reflektuje premenu krajiny v dôsledku zásahu človeka, zamýšľa sa nad zmenami, ktoré človek činnosťou v krajine spôsobuje, nad ich krátkodobými i dlhodobými dôsledkami - zmena mapy územia, celkového vzhľadu a charakteru, klímy danej oblasti, záťaže životného prostredia v dôsledku cestovného ruchu a prílevu turistov. Všíma si aj pozitívny prínos zatopenej oblasti – na priehrade sa nachádza tzv. vtáčí ostrov, na ktorom hniezdia vtáky a doplňujú potravu i sily pri každoročnej migrácií. Poukazuje na to, ako sa príroda prispôsobuje novým človekom vytvoreným podmienkam a ako obyvatelia a návštevníci lokality dokážu prírodu v súčasnosti rešpektovať.
