Concerning the Quality of Voice Training in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce se zabývá procesem pěveckého vzdělávání v České republice a jeho kvalitou. Stěžejními tématy jsou průběh vzdělávání, preference uplatnění současných studentů zpěvu a jejich vývoj, reálné možnosti uplatnění absolventů, způsob a dostatečnost přípravy studentů na pěveckou i pedagogickou praxi a také motivace pro vykonávání pedagogické i umělecké profese. Práce čerpá z výsledků výzkumu zaměřeného na studenty zpěvu a pěvecké pedagogy konzervatoří a vysokých uměleckých škol a je doplněna o postoj českých profesionálních pěvců z operních i koncertních scén. Profesionální pěvci pak mimo jiné zpětně zhodnotili své studium zpěvu v souvislosti se současnou uměleckou praxí. Data byla získána během roku 2017 pomocí dotazníkových šetření a výsledky byly v práci zpracovány typickým kvantitativním způsobem, přestože výzkum nese i charakteristické vlastnosti výzkumu kvalitativního. Všestranný náhled na proces pěveckého vzdělávání poodhalil mnohé souvislosti a umožnil hlubší vhled do celé problematiky v současném kontextu.

Abstract:

The dissertation deals with the process of voice training and its quality in the Czech Republic. The course of training, the preferences of the current singing students´ opportunities and their development, the realistic possibilities of graduates´ opportunities, the manner and the sufficiency of the students' preparation for singing and teaching practice, as well as the motivation for performing the teaching and artistic profession are principal themes. The dissertation borrows from the results of research aimed at the singing students and singing teachers of conservatories and art academies; it is complemented by the attitude of the Czech professional singers from opera and concert scenes. Then the professional singers, among other things, have evaluated retrospectively their studies of singing in connection with contemporary artistic practice. The data was obtained during 2017 using questionnaire surveys and the results have been processed in a typical quantitative manner, although the research also has the characteristic features of qualitative research. An overall view of the process of voice training has revealed a lot of connections and has allowed a deeper insight into the whole issue in the current context.
