The use of the partitive case in Finnish

Abstract:

Tato práce si bere za cíl představit případy, ve kterých se ve finštině použije pád partitiv. Předvedeme zde, jaký význam partitiv vlastně nese, v jakých funkcích větných členů může vystupovat a v neposlední řadě v jakých situacích se používá. Nejprve se podíváme na pádový systém ve finštině, a jaké postavení zde má samotný partitiv. Postupně se pak budeme zabývat výskyty pádu partitivu ve funkcích subjektu, objektu a predikativu. Kromě větných členů se také podíváme na situace, ve kterých se partitiv používá jako doplnění adpozic či kvantifikátorů.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to describe situations when the partitive case in Finnish can occur. We will show what meaning this case actually has and what constituents of the sentence it can represent. At the beginning we will describe the case system in Finnish and after that we will focus on where in this system the partitive exactly stands. Then we will deal with occurrences of the partitive in the subject, object and predicative. We will mention situations where the partitive case is used with appositions and quantity expressions as well.
