Risk management for serum paraprotein analysis in the clinical biochemistry laboratory

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je Řízení rizik při analýze paraproteinu v séru v laboratoři klinické biochemie. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na komplexní přehled problematiky v oblasti klinické biochemie, včetně rozboru jednotlivých fázích laboratorního procesu a metodik analýzy paraproteinu pomocí elektroforézy a imunoelektroforézy. Dále se práce věnuje obecným principům řízení rizik a jejich aplikaci v laboratoři klinické biochemie. Výzkumná část je věnována detailní analýze rizik spojených s procesem analýzy paraproteinu v séru pomocí metody FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis). Výzkum je rozdělen do dvou fází, kdy první fáze zahrnuje identifikaci potencionálních rizik pomocí metody Ishikawa diagramu v procesu analýzy paraproteinu v séru a druhá fáze hodnotí nalezená rizika z hlediska jejich míry závažnosti, pravděpodobnosti výskytu a pravděpodobnosti detekce. Celkem bylo identifikováno 61 potencionálních rizik, z nichž 20 bylo ve fázi preanalytické, 22 v analytické fázi a 19 v postanalytické.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis is Risk management for serum paraprotein analysis in the clinical biochemistry laboratory. The theoretical part focuses on a comprehensive overview of the issues in clinical biochemistry, including an analysis of the different stages of the laboratory process and methodologies for paraprotein analysis by electrophoresis and immunoelectrophoresis. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on general principles of risk management and their application in the clinical biochemistry laboratory. The research part is devoted to a detailed analysis of the risks associated with the process of paraprotein analysis in serum using the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) method. The research is divided into two phases, where the first phase involves the identification of potential risks using the Ishikawa diagram method in the serum paraprotein analysis process and the second phase evaluates the identified risks in terms of their severity level, probability of occurrence and probability of detection. A total of 61 potential risks were identified, of which 20 were in the pre-analytical phase, 22 in the analytical phase and 19 in the post-analytical phase.
