The Level of Typography Support in Contemporary Office Editors

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá typografickými možnostmi současných textových editorů. Navazuje na předchozí bakalářskou práci, rozšiřuje ji a je zaměřena na více typografických pravidel. V první části této práce jsou shrnuta základní typografická pravidla nutná pro správně vysázený (zejména odborný) text a dále je zkoumána podpora typografických a pravopisných pravidel v aktuálních běžně dostupných textových editorech: Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer a Dokumenty Google. Editory jsou srovnávány s možnostmi profesionálního sázecího systému TEX s použitím formátu LATEX. V druhé části práce je popis tvorby šablon pro závěrečné práce studentů Univerzity Pardubice. Výstupem diplomové práce jsou vytvořené šablony na bakalářskou, diplomovou a disertační práci v sázecím systému LATEX, dále v editoru Word od firmy Microsoft a Writer z balíku LibreOffice, a to pro všechny fakulty Univerzity. V závěru je vyhodnocení vhodnosti textových editorů z hlediska podpory pravopisných a typografických pravidel.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with typographical possibilities of contemporary text editors. This work builds on the previous bachelor thesis, extends it and focuses on more typographical rules. The first part of this work summarizes the basic typographical rules necessary for the correct layout (especially technical) text and the support of typographic and spelling rules in the current commonly available text editors: Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer and Google Docs. The editors are compared to the professional typesetting system, namely TEX using the LATEX format. The second part of the thesis is the description of the creation of templates for the final works of students of the University of Pardubice. The output of this thesis are templates for bachelor, diploma and dissertation thesis for the LATEX system, the Word editor from Microsoft and Writer from the LibreOffice package, for all faculties of the University. In the conclusion, the suitability of text editors is evaluated with regard to support of spelling and typographical rules.
