Transnational forms of activity of contemporary neo-Nazism in Europe from the perspective of the Czech neo-Nazi movement

Abstract:

Cílem disertační práce je odhalit přítomné transnacionální formy aktivity soudobého evropského neonacismu z perspektivy českých neonacistů. Na případu českých neonacistů práce analyzuje, jakým způsobem v současné době probíhá formování transnacionálního (evropského) neonacismu. Teoreticky se práce opírá o teorii sociálních hnutí a teorii transnacionalizace sociálních hnutí dle Sidneyho Tarrowa. Využity jsou koncepty a metody z prostředí výzkumu sociálních hnutí. Pomocí obsahové analýzy a analýzy protestních událostí je zjišťováno rámování a repertoár kolektivních akcí českých neonacistů v transnacionálním kontextu. Transnacionalizace je sledována na třech úrovních: ideologická, koncepční a praktická úroveň (konkrétní akce ve veřejném prostoru). Práce identifikuje transnacionální tematické rámování českého neonacismu ve vztahu k hlavnímu rámci evropského neonacismu; podobu zapojení se českých neonacistů do evropského neonacistického hnutí z hlediska kolektivních akcí; transnacionální koncepty majících odezvu i v českém prostředí; a přítomnost jednotlivých typů procesů transnacionálního protestu dle Tarrowa v aktivitách českých neonacistů.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to reveal the present forms of transnational activities of contemporary European neo-Nazism from the perspective of the Czech neo-Nazis. On the case of the Czech neo-Nazis, there are analyzed ways of ongoing formation of transnational (European) neo-Nazism. The thesis is based on the theory of social movements and the theory of transnationalization of social movements by Sidney Tarrow. The research uses concepts and methods from the world of research on social movements. By using content analysis and protest event analysis the framing and repertoire of collective actions of the Czech neo-Nazis in the transnational context are analyzed. Transnationalization is observed at three levels: ideological, conceptual, and practical level (specific events in the public space). The thesis identifies transnational thematic framing of the Czech neo-Nazism in the interaction with master frame of the European neo-Nazism; the form of connection of the Czech neo-Nazis in the European neo-Nazi movement in terms of collective action; transnational concepts being mirrored in the Czech environment; and the presence of different types of processes of transnational protest by Tarrow in the activities of the Czech neo-Nazis.
