Goniometric functions - on what there is no time in the basic course

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se zabýváme různými definicemi goniometrických funkcí. Studenti středních škol a úvodních kurzů matematické analýzy musí při zavádění goniometrických funkcí vycházet z dosud probraného učiva. Vynechání některých důležitých definic je však příčinou toho, že goniometrické funkce nestojí na pevných základech. Cílem bakalářské práce je tedy nabídnout několik ucelených a náležitých definic goniometrických funkcí. První kapitola, která tvoří jádro celé práce, definuje funkce sinus a kosinus pomocí šesti axiomů. Existence a jednoznačnost těchto funkcí je poté dokázána v závěru kapitoly. Ve druhé až čtvrté kapitole jsou odvozeny další tři definice goniometrických funkcí, které mají svou podstatu ve středoškolském přístupu, nekonečných řadách a určitých integrálech. Závěr každé kapitoly je věnován důkazu ekvivalence definovaných funkcí a funkcí sinus a kosinus z první kapitoly.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the various definitions of trigonometric functions. Since secondary school students and basic calculus students are limited by what they have learned in mathematics so far, trigonometric functions are not built on solid foundations as some important definitions are omitted. Therefore, this thesis offers a few coherent and correct definitions of trigonometric functions. The first chapter, which is the core of the thesis, provides six axioms that define the sine and cosine functions. The existence and uniqueness of these functions is proved at the end of the chapter. Chapters two through four develop three more definitions based on a secondary school approach, infinite series and definite integrals. The correspondence of these trigonometric functions with the sine and cosine functions, as defined in the first chapter, is proved at the end of each chapter.
