Sexual orientation as a reason of social discrimination

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce si klade za cíl prozkoumat problematiku společenské diskriminace v souvislosti se sexuální orientací. V teoretické části je pojednáno o vnímání odlišné sexuální orientace od historie po současnost a jsou definovány důležité pojmy související s jednotlivými sexuálními minoritami. Další část práce je pak zaměřena na problematiku diskriminace z pohledu sociálního a právního hlediska a navazuje přehled této problematiky jak v zahraničí, tak i v České republice. V poslední, třetí kapitole teoretické části jsou pak uvedeny možnosti postupu proti diskriminaci a stručný výčet organizací, které se zabývají ochranou diskriminovaných osob z důvodu jejich odlišné sexuální orientace. Součástí práce je také praktická část, která prostřednictvím dotazníkového výzkumu doplněného o dva rozhovory, zjišťovala postoj majoritní heterosexuální společnosti k sexuálním menšinám a také to, zda se právě tyto minority cítí být většinovou společností diskriminovány.

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor work is to explore the problems of social discrimination connected with sexual orientation. The theoretical part discusses the perception of different sexual orientation from history up to now and there are defined important terms concerning specific sexual minorities. The next part concentrates on the problem of discrimination from the social and legal point of view and there follows an overview of this issue abroad as well as in the Czech Republic. In the last, third chapter of the theoretical part can be found some possibilities of actions against discrimination and a brief listing of organizations dealing with the protection of discriminated persons due to their different sexual orientation. Finally there is a practical part which is by means of questionnaire research complemented by two interviews trying to find out the approach of majority heterosexual society to sexual minorities and also whether these minorities feel discriminated against by the majority.
