Tato práce sleduje McEwanovo pojetí dětství v následujících třech románech: Betonová zahrada, Dítě v čase a Pokání. Zkoumá charakteristické vlastnosti přisuzované dětství jako protikladu k dospělosti a zabývá se pojetím dospívání jako přechodného období. The thesis aims to trace McEwan´s treatment of the theme of childhood in the three novels: The Cement Garden, The Child in Time and Atonement. It examines the representative qualities attributed to childhood in contrast with adulthood and deals with the concept of adolescence as a transitory period between the two.
