Birth, progress and contemporary situation of mushing in Czech Republic

Abstract:

Mushing neboli sport psích spřežení je mladý, stále se rozvíjející sport. Jedná se především o zapřahání tažných plemen, jako jsou sibiřský husky, aljašský husky, aljašský malamut, samojed, evropský saňový pes a jiní. První zmínky o využívání psů pro přepravu jsou spojeny s obdobím zlaté horečky na Aljašce. Do širšího lidského podvědomí se dostal až s epidemií záškrtu v roce 1925, kdy pomocí psího spřežení přivezli očkovací sérum. V České republice se vznik mushingu datuje od roku 1985, kdy byly uskutečněny první závody v Peci pod Sněžkou. V dnešní době je sport již rozšířen na celou republiku a je zastřešen jednotlivými závodními kluby. V mushingu se dá očekávat další vývoj, jelikož se zlepšuje organizace závodů a přibývají další zájemci.

Abstract:

Mushing is a kind of young sport which has been constantly developing. First of all it?s about the hitching of the draught breed, e. g. Siberian Husky, Alaskan Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed, European Sleigh Dog etc. First references to using of the dogs for transport are linked to the Gold Rush era in Alaska. This sport got into a wider human?s subconscious minds when the diphtheria outbreak spread in 1925 and the vaccination serum was brought by dogs pulling sleds. Mushing origin in Czech Republic dates back in 1985 when there was the very first racing in Pec pod Sněžkou, Czech Republic. In present day this sport has been already extended to the entire country and under the patronage of the individual racing clubs. The mushing further development is expecting as the races organizing is getting better and the next applicants are on the increase.
