Tato práce uvádí do problematiky mentální retardace ze sociálního hlediska. Poukazuje na některé historické momenty v péči o mentálně postižené jedince, zaměřuje se na vysvětlení základních pojmů a popisuje různé stupně mentálního postižení. This work is focused on the problems of mental retardation from a social point of view. It refers to some historic moments in the care for mentally handicapped individuals, aimed at the explanation of basic concepts and describes the different degrees of mental handicaps.
