Valuation of inventory in accounting with emphasis on valuation in case of inventory decrease

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat problematiku oceňování zásob, zejména při jejich vyskladnění a pomocí průzkumu zjistit četnost používání jednotlivých oceňovacích technik u společností v ČR. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, přičemž teoretická část se zabývá oceňováním v obecné rovině i vymezením nejdůležitějších rozdílů v pojetí oceňování třemi účetními standardizacemi ve všech rozhodných okamžicích. Kapitola o vyskladnění se mimo jiné zaměřuje na znázornění dopadů jednotlivých oceňovacích technik na účetní výkazy. V rámci praktické části je četnost využití oceňovacích technik zkoumána na základě dvou kritérií, a to dle poměru zásob netto ku aktivům netto a dle odvětví. Na základě analýzy účetních závěrek vybraných společností bylo zjištěno, že společnosti podnikající v některých odvětvích preferují oceňování úbytků pomocí cen nejstarších dodávek, nicméně nejčastější způsob účetního vyskladňování představuje v českém prostředí metoda průměrování.

Abstract:

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe inventory valuation issue, especially valuation in case of inventory decrease and to determine the frequency of use of valuation methods in companies in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided in two parts, while the theoretical part deals with valuation in general and the definition of the most important differences in the concept of valuation by three accounting standardizations at all decisive moments. The chapter focusing on valuation in case of decrease, among other things, illustrates the effects of inventory valuation methods on the financial statements. In the practical part, the frequency of use of valuation methods is examined on the basis of two criteria, according to the ratio of inventories to net assets and according to industry. Based on the analysis of the financial statements of selected companies, it was found that companies doing business in some sectors prefer FIFO method, however, the most common valuation method in the Czech Republic is the averaging method.
