Gender specifics of female entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic and Russia

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na fenomén ženského podnikání ve dvou podnikatelských prostředích. Ženy podnikatelky dvou různých států s poměrně novou tržní ekonomikou jsou komparovány na základě osobního hloubkového rozhovoru. Autor popisuje jejich zkušenosti, motivaci začít podnikat a zásadní překážky, s nimiž se podnikatelky setkaly. Zjišťuje se rovněž jaký styl vedení uplatňují a jak definují úspěch. Ženy podnikatelky velice často mají stejnou motivaci k podnikání a čelí stejným problémům při budování vlastního podniku a to bez ohledu na národnost či kulturu. Západní modely podnikání jsou také zkoumány, zda jsou použitelné v postsocialistickém kontextu či nikoliv a tak se dají považovat za univerzální. Na závěr jsou shrnuty všechny dosažené výsledky, jsou nastíněny další možné směry výzkumu ženského podnikání. Pak jsou předloženy návrhy na zlepšení státní politiky a podnikatelského klimatu v daných zemích.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the female entrepreneurship phenomenon in two business environments. Female entrepreneurs from two different countries with relatively new market economies are compared according to their personal interviews. The author describes their experience, motivation for starting a business and difficulties they face. Their decision-making and leadership styles, the way how they define success are also examined. Cross-culturally, the majority of women entrepreneurs has the same motivation for starting a business and also tends to have the same problems trying to develop their business. Western models of entrepreneurship are also examined if can be utilized in the post-socialist countries. In conclusion all the results of the study are summarized, new possible directions for research on female entrepreneurship are put forward. Finally, improvement proposals for government entrepreneurship policies and business climate are presented.
