The impact of gender roles on women's anger in the Western world.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem mezi projevem hněvu a genderovou rolí vztahující se k ženám. K porozumění tohoto vztahu byl zvolen kvalitativní design výzkumu zabývající se otázkou, jak ženy v mladém věky samy rozumí své zkušenosti s projevováním hněvu. Výzkumný vzorek byl zvolen záměrně, sběr dat byl uskutečněn pomocí rozhovorů a následně zanalyzován interpretativní fenomenologickou analýzou. Z výsledků je patrná důležitost vnitřních hodnot, které ovlivňují příčiny agrese, a kvůli nežádoucím důsledkům agrese, ovlivňují i způsob a intenzitu projevu. Významný aspekt má i smysluplnost konfliktu a také svědomí, které vytváří touhu po sebekontrole. Omezování projevu hněvu, kvůli společenským pravidlům, nebylo respondentkami přijímáno. Celkový popis agresivního chování respondentkami byl podoben spíše asertivnímu chování, což vytváří zajímavé poznatky pro budoucí výzkumy.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between the manifestation of anger and the gender role related to women. To understand this relationship, a qualitative research design was chosen to find out how young women themselves understand their experiences of expressing anger. The research sample was chosen deliberately, data collection was through interviews and then analyzed by Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis. The results show the importance of internal values that affect the causes of aggression, and due to the undesirable consequences of aggression, also affect the manner and intensity of anger. The meaningfulness of the conflict also has an important aspect, as does the conscience, which creates a desire for self-control. Restrictions on the expression of anger, due to social rules, were not accepted by the respondents. The overall description of the aggressive behavior by the respondents was more like assertive behavior, which creates interesting findings for future research.
