Truman Capote and Hans Fallada - "Nonfiction Literature"

Abstract:

The aim is of this Bachelor workis to deal with the term "Nonfiction Literature" in German literature of the twenties and thirties of the 20th century in terms of a new literary direction "Neue Sachlichkeit" as a forerunner of New Journalism ( "New Journalism") and "Nonfiction Literature" in American literature in sixties of 20th century. The basis for the interpretation of the term "Nonfiction Literature" in German and American literature will serve comparison and analysis of American author Truman Capote's novel "In Cold Blood" and German author Hans Fallada´s novel "Wolf among Wolves." The work will follow : 1) Development of Literary Journalism in US Literature in regard to the period of New Literary Journalism in context of "Nonfiction Literature" in the US Literature. 2.) The analysis of T.Capote´s novel "In Cold Blood" 3.) Literary analysis of Hans Fallada's novel "The Wolf among Wolves" as a representative work of "Neue Sachlichkeit" in Germany in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. 4) Comparison of the two novels in terms of literary composition, subject, style, language and objectivity pointing out to economic, social and political realities of that period. Conclusion. The work will be written in German language.

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zabývat se termínem "Nonfiction Literature" v německé literatuře 20. a 30. let 20. století z hlediska nového literárního směru "Neue Sachlichkeit" coby předchůdce nového žurnalismu ("New Journalism") a "Nonfiction Literature" v americké literatuře 60. let 20. století. Základem pro interpretaci termínu "Nonfiction Literature" v německé a americké literatuře bude sloužit porovnání a literární analýza děl amerického autora Truman Capote "Chladnokrevně" a německého autora Hanse Fallady "Vlk mezi Vlky". Práce bude vypracována podle rámcové osnovy: 1) Vývoj literárního žurnalismu v USA završený obdobím nového literárního žurnalismu v rámci "Nonfiction Literature" v USA. 2.) Literární analýza díla T.Capote "Chladnokrevně", 3.) Literární analýza románu Hanse Fallady "Vlk mezi Vlky" coby reprezentativního díla směru "Neue Sachlichkeit" v Německu ve 20. a 30. letech 20. století. 4) Porovnání obou děl z hlediska literární kompozice, tématu, stylu, jazyka a objektivity zachycení hospodářské, sociální a politické reality dané doby. Závěr. práce bude vypracovaná v německém jazyce.
