Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis is written up to study understand and assess the impact that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic had on the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It further aims to examine the changes in major economic indicators of Kazakhstan, that occurred due to the spread of the virus. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly covers the information on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on global economy. Further, more extensive focus is paid to the economy of Kazakhstan. The literature explores the economic sectors that were most and least affected by lockdowns, changes in economic indicators, and domestic tourism. At last, the government’s Crisis Management Strategy and virus containment methods are discussed. The practical part utilizes qualitative research methods, designed to understand domestic attitudes towards the state’s Crisis Management measures and policies, to understand whether the government provided sufficient help to its citizens and SMEs.
