Education of Mothers on the Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo vytvořit a realizovat edukační plán pro matky fyziologických novorozenců zaměřený na prevenci syndromu náhlého úmrtí kojenců. Součástí bylo také posouzení teoretických znalostí matek rozhovorem před, během a po proběhlé edukaci. Metodika: Soubor tvořily dvě matky fyziologických novorozenců hospitalizované po porodu na oddělení šestinedělí vybrané nemocnice v lednu 2021. Matky absolvovaly dvě edukační lekce a následné ověření znalostí s odstupem necelých třech měsíců po dokončení edukace. První edukační lekce byla zaměřená na fyziologii novorozence a kojence a základní informace o SIDS a proběhla formou skupinové edukace pro obě matky najednou. Trvala 25 minut. Druhá edukační lekce proběhla individuálně s každou z matek a trvala okolo 50 minut. Byla zaměřená hlavně na prohloubení znalostí o SIDS, jeho rizicích a možnostech prevence. Výsledky: Pomocí rozhovoru s časovým odstupem bylo zjištěno, že edukace měla pozitivní vliv na znalosti matek, které jsou schopny získané teoretické znalosti aplikovat do praxe při každodenní péči o své děti. Matky si zapamatovaly většinu předávaných informací. Závěry: Edukace je velmi důležitou součástí ošetřovatelské péče a tím, že jí bude věnován dostatek času a pozornosti je možno předejít potencionálnímu poškození zdraví. K matkám je potřeba přistupovat empaticky a během edukace je často zapojovat a aktivizovat, aby pro ně edukace byla co nejefektivnější.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the bachelor thesis was to create and implement an educational plan for mothers of fyziological newborns focused on prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The assesement of theoretical knowledgeof the mothers before, during and after the education was also part of the work. Methodology: The sample consisted of two mothers of phyziological newborns, wich were hispitalized on the postpartum unit in the selected hospital after giving birth in January 2021. The mothers completed two educational lessons and subsequent knowledge validation nearly three months after completing the education. The first educational lesson was focused on the physiology of the newborn and infant and basic information about SIDS and took the form of group education for both mothers at the same time. It lasted 25 minutes. The second educational lesson took place individually with each of the mothers and lasted about 50 minutes. It focused mainly on deepening knowledge about SIDS, its risk factors and possible prevention. Results: Using a time-lapse interview, it was found that education had a positive effect on the knowledge of mothers, who are able to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acqired to their everyday childcare. The mothers memorized most of the information transmitted. Conslusions: Education is very important part of nursing care and by set aside enough time and attention to it, it is possible to prevent potentional damage to health. Mothers need to be treated empathically and often get engaged and activated during education to make it as effective as possible
