Czech and German midwives perception of their own profession

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je zjistit a porovnat vnímání vlastní profese porodními asistentkami z České republiky a Německa. Porodní asistentky v rámci Evropské unie by měly mít na základě společné evropské legislativy srovnatelné a jednotné kompetence. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořily čtyři české a čtyři německé porodní asistentky. Výzkum byl zpracován kvalitativní metodou. Ke sběru dat byla použita metoda polo strukturovaných rozhovorů s vybranými porodními asistentkami, poté byly rozhovory analyzovány a výsledky zařazeny do kategorií a podkategorií. Rozhovory byly dobrovolné a anonymní. Výsledky: Popisují vnímání profese porodními asistentkami v jednotlivých oblastech jejich profese. Výsledky výzkumného šetření ukazují, jak a v kterých oblastech se liší vnímání vlastní profese českými a německými porodními asistentkami. Závěr: Vnímání vlastní profese porodními asistentkami z České republiky a Německa je v oblastech naplnění kompetencí nebo prestiže profese ovlivněno současnou situací v porodnictví v jednotlivých zemích. Motivaci pro volbu profese podle všeho tyto souvislosti neovlivňují.

Abstract:

Aim: The main aim of this thesis is to identify and compare Czech and German midwives? perception of their own profession. Midwifery in the European Union is based on common European legislation and there should be comparable and uniform competences. Methods: The sample consisted of four Czech and four German midwives. The research was done with qualitative method. For data collection method was used semi-structured interviews with chosen midwives, after interviews data were analyzed and the results were sorted into categories and subcategories. The interviews were voluntary and anonymous. Results: Results describe the perception of midwives in various dimensions of their profession. The results of the research show how and in which dimensions is the Czech and German midwives? perception of their own profession different. Conclusion: Czech and German midwives? perception of their own profession in competence or prestige dimension is affected by the current situation in midwifery in each states.
