Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 compared to the stage and film adaptation

Abstract:

V současné době je mnoho literárních děl adaptováno do filmového nebo divadelního prostředí. Některé příběhy procházejí opakovanými transformacemi a každé zpracování nese své vlastní odlišnosti. Jednotným rysem těchto adaptací je skutečnost, že původní literární dílo je vždy rozsáhlejší než jeho digitální či divadelní podoba. V roce 2018 byly uvedeny dvě nové adaptace knihy 451 stupňů Fahrenheita od Raye Bradburyho ve filmovém a divadelním provedení. Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje rozdíly mezi těmito adaptacemi, zkoumá jejich obsahovou hloubku, a především zhodnocuje, jak efektivně byla literární látka přenesena do filmu a na jeviště. Zároveň jsou v práci shrnuty výhody a nevýhody dramatizace a je probráno, jaký význam má pojem interpretace v kontextu těchto uměleckých přeměn.

Abstract:

Currently, many literary works are being adapted into film or theatrical settings. Some stories undergo repeated transformations, with each adaptation bearing its own distinctiveness. A common characteristic of these adaptations is the fact that the original literary work is always more extensive than its digital or theatrical counterpart. In 2018, two new adaptations of Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451 were released, both in film and theatrical formats. This bachelor's thesis analyzes the differences between these adaptations, explores their thematic depth, and above all, evaluates how effectively the literary material was transferred to the screen and stage. In the conclusion of the thesis, the advantages and disadvantages of dramatization are summarized, and the significance of interpretation in the context of these artistic transformations is discussed.
