Selected personality characteristics of attitudinal assessment

Abstract:

Výzkumný problém. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zkoumat souvislost mezi osobnostními charakteristikami žáků druhého stupně základních škol a jejich postojem k učitelům. Práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci vlivu jednotlivých rysů pětifaktorového modelu osobnosti (Big Five) a školního prospěchu na hodnocení učitelů. Metody. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 213 žáků druhého stupně dvou veřejných základních škol v Moravskoslezském kraji. Osobnostní rysy žáků byly zkoumány pomocí psychometrického nástroje International Personality Item Pool - Big Five Markers - 50 (IPIP-BFM-50). Postoje žáků k učitelům byly hodnoceny metodou Interaktivních vizuálních metafor (IVM). Data byla následně analyzována pomocí neparametrického Spearmanova korelačního koeficientu a regresní analýzy. Výsledky. Spearmanova korelační analýza odhalila statisticky významnou pozitivní korelaci mezi svědomitostí a hodnocením učitelů a mezi otevřeností a hodnocením učitelů. Regresní analýza dále prokázala, že svědomitost má pozitivní vliv na hodnocení učitelů, zatímco školní prospěch má negativní vliv. Model vysvětlil 10 % variability v hodnocení učitelů. Závěry. Výzkum ukázal, že osobnostní rysy a školní prospěch žáků mají vliv na jejich hodnocení učitelů, ačkoliv tvoří pouze 10 % rozdílů ve způsobu. Analýzy odhalily, že svědomitost pozitivně ovlivňuje hodnocení učitelů, zatímco školní prospěch má negativní vliv. V práci bylo rovněž identifikováno několik omezení a navrženy směry pro budoucí výzkum.

Abstract:

Research Problem. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine the relationship between the personality traits of secondary school students and their attitudes towards teachers. The thesis focuses on identifying the influence of individual traits from the Big Five personality model and grades on evaluation of teachers. Methods. The research sample consisted of 213 secondary school students from two public secondary schools in Moravian-Silesian Region. The personality traits of the students were assessed using the psychometric tool International Personality Item Pool - Big Five Markers - 50 (IPIP-BFM-50). The attitudes of students towards teachers were evaluated using the method Interactive Visual Metaphors (IVM). Data were subsequently analyzed using the non-parametric Spearman's correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results. Spearman's correlation analysis revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between conscientiousness and teacher evaluation and between openness and teacher evaluation. Regression analysis further demonstrated that conscientiousness has a positive effect on teacher evaluation, while grades have a negative effect. The model explained 10 % of the variability in teacher evaluation. Conclusions. Research has shown that personality traits and grades of students influence their evaluations of teachers, although they account for only 10 % of the differences in ratings. The analyses revealed that conscientiousness positively affects teacher ratings, while grades have a negative effect. The study also identified several limitations and suggested directions for future research.
