Healthy Houses. The Ecology & Tradition of Earthen Architecture

Abstract:

Práce shrnuje malý průřez dějinami hlíny od nejzazší minulosti až po současnost, s různými aspekty a proměnami, její vývoj, principy zdravého bydlení, tradiční a současné technologie a materiály. Poukazuje také jakými různými směry a způsoby můžeme ke hlíně přistupovat a pohlížet na ni. V kapitole Nová generace hliněné architektury uvádí hliněné stavby v současnosti, zvláště pak výzkumy z Česka, Slovenska, a Rakouska jako odlišné prototypy: Alternativní způsob stavění v Zaježové na Slovensku s profesionálními domy v Praze –Průhonicích a Tattendorfu v Rakousku. Hlína se v současnosti stává také díky své enviromentální hodnotě spolu se dřevem materiálem budoucnosti. Stává se ale nejen ekologickou alternativou, ale také určitým luxusem. Opouští pozvolna v myšlení lidí utkvělou představu hlíny jako levného, bídného staviva pro ty nejchudší. Hlína, přírodní materiály, ekologie, to jsou všechno stále otevřená témata k diskuzi, která nás vybízejí se na počátku 21. století zamyslet nejenom nad ekologickou stránkou věci, ale také nad tím, co po nás jednou zůstane a jak se postaráme o to, aby krásné věci, které nám naši předci přenechaly, uchováme a předáme dál. Není jistě v síle čistě etnologů a jiných vědních pracovníků se o toto rozsáhlé dědictví postarat. Znamená to změnu myšlení a následný způsob chování nás všech. „Člověk žil po tisíce let v harmonii s přírodou. Prostředí, které nás obklopuje, se neustále vyvíjí a proměňuje. V současné době je rychlost změn výrazná a projevuje se v mnoha aspektech. Lidé využívali přírodních materiálů od nepaměti a dnes, ve věku oceli a betonu, se k ní znovu začínají vracet.“ Práce vyjadřuje určité poselství k širší veřejnosti, jak se dá žít a možnost jak přistupovat k životu, jak si podmínky pro zdraví a spokojenost vytvářet a jak využívat tradici, kterou nám předkové ponechali.

Abstract:

This work summarizes the history of earth from the beginning of time till the present days and, with various aspects and transformations, describes its development, the principles of healthy living, the traditional and up-to-date technologies and materials. It also shows the ways and methods of approaching and viewing earth. In the chapter New generation of earth architecture are also stated the current new earth buildings, especially the researches from the Czech republic, Slovakia and Austria depicting different prototype: the alternative methods of building in Zaježová in Slovakia with professional houses in Praha – Průhonice and Tattendorf in Austria. These days, earth is also becoming, together with wood and thanks to its environmental value, the material of the future. It is becoming not only an ecological alternative, but also a certain luxury. Slowly, people are abandoning the idea of earth as the material for the poor, as the destitute building material for the poorest. Earth, natural materials, ecology, these are the topics that are open to discussion and that are urging us to ponder not only the ecological side of things, but also what will stay after us and how do we manage to preserve and pass on all those beautiful things our ancestors yield to us. Surely only ethnologists and scientific have not enough power to care about this large legacy. What it means is a change of mind and subsequent change of behaviour of us all. „For thousands of years, mankind lived in harmony with nature. The surrounding environment is constantly developing and changing. The swiftness of changes is striking and is reflected in many aspects. Man has used natural materials since time immemorial and now, in this age of steel and concrete, is turning back to them.” This work would like to express a certain message to general public about the way of living and the approach towards life, how to create the conditions of life and contentedness and how to take advantage of tradition left by our ancestors.
