This master's thesis analyses detective fiction in the context of the Victorian era, focusing particularly on the works of E. A. Poe and A. C. Doyle. The thesis examines how both authors contributed to shaping the detective genre. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou detektivní prózy v kontextu viktoriánské éry, zejména díly E. A. Poea a A. C. Doylea. Práce zkoumá, jak oba autoři přispěli k vývoji detektivního žánru. Teoretická část se věnuje historickému a kulturnímu kontextu viktoriánské doby a také vývoji detektivní prózy.
