Interactive methods in the teaching of mathematics

Abstract:

Je možné studentům výuku matematiky zpestřit, ulehčit a usnadnit její pochopení? Na tuto otázku odpovídá (do jisté míry) předložená disertační práce, která popisuje jednu perspektivní metodu vyučování – tzv. interaktivní výuku. Interaktivní výuka nabízí žákům zábavnější, méně stereotypní formu výuky, jejíž hlavní charakteristikou je aktivní zapojení studentů do celého procesu učení. Disertační práce je zaměřená na dvě možné formy interaktivní výuky, a to na výuku podporovanou e-learningem a výuku s využitím interaktivní tabule. Celá práce je rozdělena na čtyři základní části, přičemž pouze první je teoretická. Stručně charakterizuje dvě již zmíněné interaktivní formy výuky, které lze ve výuce matematiky uplatnit. Součástí jsou i zahraniční zkušenosti. V následujících dvou částech je ukázáno, jak je možné obě dvě formy ve výuce využít, zda opravdu znamenaly změnu ve výuce, jaké byly reakce studentů, u nichž se vyzkoušely, a jaké negativní či pozitivní ohlasy přinesly v realizovaných výzkumech. Hlavním přínosem disertační práce je vytvořená interaktivní učebnice kombinatoriky, jež je zhotovená v programu Smart Notebook; příručka pro učitele, která by měla sloužit k lepší orientaci v interaktivní učebnici; didaktická zpracování kombinatorických úloh, jež zřetelně ukazují rozdíly v řešení jednotlivých studentů; další možné ukázky interaktivních cvičebnic a v neposlední řadě celkové hodnocení výuky podporované e-learningem a výuky s využitím interaktivní tabule.

Abstract:

Is it possible to make the teaching of Mathematics richer, easier and more understandable for the students? This question is answered (in a certain measure) in this doctoral thesis that describes a perspective method of teaching – so-called interactive teaching. The interactive teaching offers to the students more entertaining learning with less stereotypes. The main character of this method is an active engagement of the students in the whole learning process. The doctoral thesis is focused on 2 possible forms of interactive teaching – the teaching supported by e-learning and the teaching supported by an interactive whiteboard. The thesis is divided into 4 basic parts, whereas only the first one treats the theory. In this first part we characterize the two already mentioned interactive forms that can be used in the Mathematics. We added experience from abroad as well. In the following two parts we show how to employ these two forms, whether the new forms have really brought changes to the teaching, what has been the reactions of the students with whom these forms had been applied and what has been the negative and positive points in the realized researches. The main contribution of this doctoral thesis is an interactive text-book of combinatorics created in the program Smart Notebook; a manual for teachers that should be useful for a better orientation in the interactive text-book; didactical elaborations of exercises of combinatorics that clearly show differences in resolutions of various students; other possible examples of exercise books and last but not least an overall evaluation of the teaching supported by e-learning and by an interactive whiteboard.
