Creation of the Java library for discrete event simulation

Abstract:

Cílem práce je vytvořit knihovnu v jazyce Java, která by nabízela prostředky pro tvorbu simulačních modelů založených na diskrétní simulaci a otestování této knihovny na modelových příkladech. V první části práce jsou stručně vysvětleny základní principy diskrétní simulace a prostředky, které pro její podporu nabízí programovací jazyk Simula. Dále je zmíněn krátký exkurz do problematiky vláken, na kterých je výsledná knihovna založena. Druhá část práce popisuje jednotlivé funkce vytvořené knihovny JaDiS, včetně její podpory pro vnořenou simulaci a použitých optimalizací. Tato knihovna vznikla podle vzoru systémových tříd jazyka Simula a nabízí ekvivalentní funkčnosti. V závěru je konstatováno, že tato knihovna je vhodným nástrojem pro diskrétní simulaci v jazyce Java včetně vnořené simulace. Součástí elektronické přílohy práce jsou modelové příklady, na kterých je dokázána funkčnost této knihovny a její podobnost s jazykem Simula.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to create the Java language library that offers the classes for creating the simulation models based on discrete event simulation and to test this library on selected examples. The first part of the thesis briefly explains the basic principles of the discrete event simulation and the functions offered by the Simula programming language. There is also presented a little excursion to the thread problematics, as the library is based on threads. The second part of the thesis describes the functionalities of the JaDiS library, that has been created, including its support for nested simulation and performed optimalizations. This library has been modelled upon the Simula system classes and offers the equivalent functionalities. At the close of the thesis, I find the JaDiS library suitable for the Java discrete event simulation including the nested simulation. In the electronic supplement of this thesis, there is also a couple of examples that prove the functionalities of the JaDiS library and show its similarity to the Simula language.
