Evaluation of the economic situation of the chosen African countries

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na zhodnocení ekonomické situace ve vybraných afrických zemích. Těmi jsou Jihoafrická republika, Egypt, Uganda a Keňa. V práci je poukázáno na základní makroekonomické ukazatele jednotlivých zemí a také na hospodářský vývoj ve vybraných státech. Analyzovány jsou zde problémy kontinentu. Mezi ně patří migrace obyvatel Afriky, chudoba a nerovnosti, potravinová bezpečnost, problémy s nedostatkem pitné vody a klimatické změny. Práce je zaměřena i na přírodní zdroje a obchod kontinentu, což úzce souvisí s jeho ekonomikou. V praktické části práce jsou zhodnoceny jednotlivé makroekonomické ukazatele vybraných států, které jsou vyčísleny v tabulkách. Jde o základní makroekonomické ukazatele (nominální HDP/obyv., vývoj objemu HDP, míra inflace, míra nezaměstnanosti), očekávaný vývoj v teritoriu s akcentem na ekonomickou sféru, státní rozpočet - příjmy, výdaje, saldo, platební bilance (běžný účet), celkové rezervy, veřejný dluh vůči HDP, zahraniční zadluženost a dluhová služba. Z analýzy této práce ve výsledku vyplývá, že ekonomicky nejrozvinutější je z vybraných zemí JAR, naopak nejméně Uganda. JAR má nejvyšší HDP, zároveň ale také nejvyšší nezaměstnanost. Na druhé straně stojí právě Uganda s nejnižším HDP a také nejnižší nezaměstnaností. Inflace je v těchto čtyřech zemích velice nestabilní po celou dobu komparovaných let. Obchodní bilanci má v nejnižších hodnotách Egypt, ten si vede nejhůře v zahraničním obchodu.

Abstract:

This thesis has been focused on evaluation of the economic situation in selected African countries – South Africa, Egypt, Uganda and Kenya. There have been pointed out the fundamental macroeconomic indicators of the countriesand also their economic progress in the thesis. Also the main problems of the continent have been broken down – migration of African population, poverty and social inequalities, food safety, problems with drinking waterand climatic changes.The thesis has been also focused on the nature resources and continent’s foreign trade which is closely related to its economy. There are evaluated the main particular macroeconomic indicators of the countries in chartsin the final part of the thesis. These are fundamental macroeconomic indicators for (nominal GDP per Capita, progress of GDP volume, inflation rate, rate of unemployment), expected progress in territory with emphasis on economic sphere, state budget – revenues, expenses and balance, balance of payments (current account), total reserves, public debt against GDP, foreign indebtedness and debt service. The result of the thesis analysis shows that the most economically developed country among the selected African countries is South Africa, in contrast the least developed country is Uganda. South Africa shows the highest GDP value, but on the other hand also the highest rate of unemployment.There is Uganda on the other side of evaluating scale with the lowest GDP value and the lowest rate of unemployment. The inflation rate was being very unstable during the whole period of compared years. There are the lowest values of trade balance in Egypt, which has been the weakest country regarding the foreign trade.
