Socioonomastic Aspects of Toponymy in the Selected Localities

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá socionomastickými aspekty toponymie. Zaměřuje se na znalost a užívání nestandardizované toponymie v šesti vybraných lokalitách Moravy a Slezska. Cílem našeho výzkumu bylo zjistit, jak charakter a specifika lokality ovlivňují vztah obyvatel k prostoru a jak se tento vztah promítá do znalosti a používání toponymie (toponymická kompetence). Výzkum proběhl v letech 2014-2017. V každé lokalitě byla nejprve shromážděna nestandardizovaná toponymie. Následně z ní bylo náhodně vybráno 20 toponym, která byla použita k vytvoření socioonomastického dotazníku, testujícího toponymickou kompetenci obyvatel příslušné lokality. Respondenti byli rovněž dotazováni na jejich sociální charakteristiky, názory, postoje, emoce a jejich vztah k lokalitě. Celkem bylo shromážděno více než 400 nestandardizovaných toponym a 232 dotazníků. Data byla statisticky testována Wilcoxonovým testem a Kruskal-Wallisovým testem. Bylo zjištěno, že znalost a užívání toponymie závisí na věku a pohlaví respondenta, souvislost se vzděláním se neprokázala. Délka pobytu v lokalitě ovlivňuje toponymickou kompetenci pouze částečně, výrazněji se v tomto projevil typ pobytu (dětství, trvalý pobyt, rekreační pobyt). Dalšími aspekty, u nichž byl prokázán vliv na toponymickou kompetenci obyvatel, jsou: znalost oblasti, zájem o dění v obci, znalost dialektu, vyhraněné postoje k přejmenování lokality a k významu onomastického výzkumu a emoční vnímání lokality jako domova. Potvrdil se vztah mezi znalostí a používáním toponymie a sociálně-hospodářským charakterem obce. Naproti tomu vliv historicko-demografického vývoje na toponymickou kompetenci se výrazněji neprojevil.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with socio-onomastic aspects of toponymy. The main focus is knowledge and usage of non-standardized toponymy in six different Moravian and Silesian areas. The aim of our research was to find out how various characteristics of inhabitants and their relationship to the area affect their knowledge and usage of toponymy (toponymic competence). The influence of the area was also taken into consideration. The research was conducted in the years 2014-2017. Non-standardized place names were collected and randomly selected twenty of them were put in socio-onomastic questionnaire tested toponymic competence in each area. Respondents were also asked about their social characteristics opinions, attitudes, emotional aspects and their relationship to the area. All together it was a collection of over 400 non-standardized place names and 232 questionnaires. The data was statistically tested by Wilcoxon test and Kruskal-Wallis test. It was found that knowledge and usage of toponymy depend on age and gender of respondents while level of education has no influence. The length of stay in the area partly affects toponymic competence but more important is the type of stay (childhood, tourist, resident). Other aspects influencing toponymic competence are: knowledge of the area, interest in community life, knowledge of dialect, attitude to renaming, attitude to onomastic research, considering the area as a home. Knowledge and usage of toponymy is also affected by social-economical character of the area. Relationship between toponymic competence and historical-demographic development was not fully confirmed.
