Psychological context of the experiential education course and the process of change of its participants

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je přispět k rozšíření odborného poznání nedostatečně probádaného oboru zážitková pedagogika a podat výsledky, které budou moci být aplikovány do praxe. Teoretická část se věnuje popisu oboru zážitková pedagogika (disciplíně stojící na pomezí psychologie a pedagogiky) a shrnutí převážně domácích poznatků o tomto oboru. Zážitkovou pedagogiku dává do kontextu se skupinovou psychoterapií a jejími principy. Popisuje hlavní prostředky zážitkové pedagogiky, kterými jsou zpětná vazba, zkušenostní učení, hra, flow fenomén i komfortní zóna (která je nahlížená rovněž z kritického pohledu). Pojednává rovněž o terminologii užívané v zážitkové pedagogice, včetně samotného označení „Zážitková pedagogika“. Uspořádává tak nejasnosti, které jsou pro odbornou veřejnost zabývající se tímto oborem stále aktuální a diskutované. V empirické části je hledána odpověď na výzkumnou otázku, „jakým způsobem účastníci zážitkově-pedagogického kurzu DoNitraZeMě subjektivně vnímají změny, které u nich nastaly v souvislosti s absolvováním tohoto kurzu.“ Výzkum je zaměřen na určení oblastí, ve kterých se změny uskutečnily, reflexi vývoje těchto změn a definování podpůrných i inhibujících činitelů změn. Jádrem této kvalitativní studie jsou kasuistiky, zachycující subjektivní pohled účastníků na zážitkově-pedagogický kurz. Nejčastější změny účastníků v souvislosti s absolvovaným kurzem nastaly v oblastech interpersonálního a osobnostního rozvoje. Popsané změny byly s půlročním odstupem od kurzu respondenty vnímány jako rozvíjející se či stabilizované. Účinné faktory změny byly v poměrné shodě s psychoterapeutickými faktory změny I.D. Yaloma. Výsledkem studie je hluboká a pestrá sonda do zážitkově-pedagogických kurzů, se zaměřením na změnu jejich absolventů.

Abstract:

The contribution of this thesis is to broaden knowledge of the insufficiently explored field of the experiential education and to present findings that can be applied in practice. The theoretical part describes the area of experiential education (as a discipline on the borderline between psychology and pedagogy) and summarizes mostly indigenous knowledge of this area. The experiential education is embedded in the context of group psychotherapy and its principles. Feedback, experiential learning, play, flow phenomenon, and comfort zone are described as a predominant instruments of the experiential education. Presented terminology brings out basic terms used in the field of experiential education, including the very designation of the „experiential education“ in Czech language, and clarifies ambiguities in definitions that could help professionals interested in this area. The empirical part of the thesis aims to answer the research question how participants of experiential-educational course DoNitraZeMě subjectively perceived changes that have occurred in the connection of participating in this course. Research focuses on identifying areas where the changes have taken place, reflects a development of these changes and defines supportive and inhibitory factors of these changes. The core of this study represents case studies which show participants' subjective view of the experiential education course. The most frequent changes of participants in connection with participating in this course occurred in the areas of personal and interpersonal development. Within seven-month after the course, stated subjective changes were perceived by the respondents as developing or even stable. The effective factors of changes were relatively consistent with the factors of changes in the concept of psychotherapy by I.D. Yalom. The results of this study provide a wide exploration of the area of experiential-educational courses with a focus on subjective changes of participants.
