Abstract:

V posledních desetiletích dochází ve světě ke změnám v uspořádání měst a městských aglomerací. Růst příjmů, technický pokrok a státem podporované vlastní bydlení vedly k tomu, že se lidé začali stěhovat z často špinavých měst na jejich okraje, kde je lepší kvalita života. Rezidenční suburbanizace byla následována komerční, kdy se maloobchodníci z center měst stěhovali do lokalit s vyšší poptávkou po jimi nabízeném zboží či službách. Také v Česku lze pozorovat proces suburbanizace, byť má pro odlišný vývoj než v západních zemích jiný charakter. Byly to komerční funkce, které se staly hybatelem měnící se příměstské krajiny Česka. Městská centra se začala vylidňovat a postupně se snižovala jejich nejdůležitější role, jakožto prostoru s největší koncentrací informací, služeb a kontaktů. V kontextu s výše zmíněnými procesy roste v poslední době význam City managementu. Jeho hlavním cílem je zvýšení atraktivity městských center. Cílem této diplomové práce je skrze terénní šetření identifikovat a zhodnotit atraktivitu městského centra Opavy a na základě zjištěného určit a navrhnout případné opatření vedoucí ke zlepšení stávajícího stavu.

Abstract:

In the last decades, the world has seen changes in the organization of cities and agglomerations. Rise of income, technological progress, and housing supported by the government have led to people moving from polluted cities to their outskirts which offer a better quality of life. Residential suburbanization was followed by the commercial one when the retailers from the city centers moved to locations with higher demand for their goods and services. The process of suburbanization can be seen also in the Czech Republic even though its character is not the same as in western countries due to its different development. The commercial functions were the initiators of the change in the suburban areas in the Czech Republic. The city centers became depopulated and their role, as of a place with the highest concentration of information, services, and contacts, gradually decreased. In the context of the above-mentioned processes, the significance of City management is growing. Its main objective is to increase the attractiveness of city centers. The aim of this master's thesis is to identify and evaluate the attractiveness of the city center of Opava based on field research and on the grounds of the foundings suggest possible actions which may lead to an improvement of the current situation.
