The frequency of the verb noun constructions in German on the basis of own corpus and theirs equivalents in Czech

Abstract:

The verb noun constructions in the German language present a phenomenon that has been under the scrutiny of renowned Germanists for many decades. The long time debated question is whether these constructions are necessary at all, namely when they can, in majority of the cases, be successfully replaced with full verbs equivalent in meaning. This paper seeks such examples of the said phenomenon occurrence in the on-line versions of the texts from the German daily "Die Welt", and tries to find an answer to the question of which verb noun constructions, and especially in what frequency of appearance, are given precedence over their rivals from the full verb category. The second topic of this paper covers the area of Czech equivalents of German verb-noun constructions. It provides the Czech translation of the most frequent ones of those structures which are the result of a lingustic data collection inlcuded in the corpus and of analysis thereof.

Abstract:

Německé verbonominální vazby jsou fenoménem, kterým se již řadu desetiletí zabývají renomovaní lingvisté z řad germanistů. Často diskutovanou otázkou je to, jsou-li tyto konstrukce vůbec nutné, zvláště tehdy, kdy je lze ve většině případů s úspěchem nahradit slovesy ekvivalentními, plnovýznamovými. Tato práce hledá v textech on line verze německého deníku "Die Welt" příklady výskytu tohoto fenoménu a snaží se o odpověď na to, jaké verbonominální vazby a zejména s jakou frekvencí dostávají přednost před svými plnovýznamovými konkurenty. Druhým aspektem této práce jsou české ekvivalenty německých verbonominálních vazeb. Nabízí český překlad těch nejfrekventovanějších z nich, které jsou výsledkem sběru lingvistických dat zahrnutých do korpusu a jejich analýzy.
