Concept of "Authorship" by Roland Barthes, from the Text of Genius to the Hypertext of Anonymous Masses

Abstract:

This paper deals with Roland Barthes and his essay „The Death of the Author.“ It endeavours to discover the context to which Barthes reacted and what led him to such an extreme declaration. The paper tries to solve this question due to the excursus to the previous forms of authorship in antiquity – before the discovery of writing, the Middle Ages and the time of Romanticism. It also discusses Roland Barthes and his personal development through which he came to this idea. The text finds parallel between Barthese’s idea of an “ideal text” and new form of text, hypertext.

Abstract:

Táto práca pojednáva o Rolandovi Barthesovi a jeho eseji „Smrť autora.“ Prostredníctvom exkurzu do predchádzajúcich foriem autorstva v staroveku– pred vynájdením písma, stredoveku a v dobe romantizmu, sa snaží zodpovedať otázku, na aký kontext Roland Barthes nadviazal, teda čo podnietilo jeho snaženie sa o odstránenie autora z textu. Ďalej sa zaoberá samotným Barthesom, jeho osobným vývojom, prostredníctvom ktorého k tejto myšlienke dospel. Text nachádza paralelu medzi Barthesovou predstavou o „ideálnom texte“ a novou formou textu, hypertextom.
