This paper evaluates the current energy climate, with special reference to the EU, with the present energy arena defined by several key characteristics; high oil prices, the increasing dependence of the EU on imported energy, the increasing politicisation of energy, the growing demand of Asia, and the constant uncertainty surrounding many key producers and transit countries.
