Neuropsychological burden of nurses and midwives in Obstetrics and gynecology Clinic University Hospital Ostrava

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit stupeň neuropsychické zátěže u sester a porodních asistentek, které pracují na Porodnicko gynekologické klinice Fakultní nemocnice Ostrava (dále jen PGK FNO), tento stupeň zátěže srovnat mezi jednotlivými odděleními. Dalšími cíli bylo zjistit, zda mají roky praxe a druh oddělení vliv na odpovědi na otázky v dotazníku. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 102 všeobecných sester a porodních asistentek pracujících na PGK FNO. Výzkum byl realizován pomocí standardizovaného Meisteova dotazníku k hodnocení neuropsychické zátěže doplněného demografickými otázkami. Průzkumové šetření probíhalo v období srpen ? říjen 2011. Výsledky: Šetřením v oblasti zátěže byla zjištěna monotónnost na všech odděleních PGK FNO kromě operačních sálů, zde vyšla lehká zátěž při analýze rozptylů. To znamená zátěž, při které nehrozí ohrožení zdraví, subjektivního stavu ani výkonnosti. Dále se potvrdil významný rozdíl ve 4. hypotéze a dílčím cíli 11 ve vztahu oddělení a konflikty, kdy na oddělení operačních sálů sestry instrumentářky označily svou práci jako prostředí, kde prožívají nejvíce konfliktů. Při hodnocení jednotlivých položek z dotazníku nebyl prokázán vliv roků praxe na jednotlivé odpovědi. Závěr: Diplomová práce přinesla některé pozitivní výsledky, které se týkají neuropsychické zátěže a celkové pracovní pohody sester a porodních asistentek pracujících na PGK FNO. Tyto výsledky mohou být nejen určitým impulzem, ale i inspirací pro management nemocnice, ale i pro odborníky, kterým není lhostejná spokojenost zdravotnických pracovníků. Od sester se vyžaduje a očekává, že budou vysoce vzdělané profesionálky, které zvládají s přehledem a spolehlivě náročné situace a problémy, protože je každodenně charakter provozu přináší a ovládá i sám sebe. Většinu zátěžových faktorů ve zdravotnických týmech nelze ovlivnit, je však možné je určitým způsobem alespoň zmírnit. Vedení nemocnice i přímí nadřízení zdravotnických pracovníků mohou zajistit odbornou psychologickou pomoc, v podobě konzultací s psychologem či odborné kurzy psychoprofylaxe a asertivity.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the degree of neuropsychological burden for nurses and midwives who work at the Obstetrics and gynaecology department of University hospital Ostrava and to compare the degree of distress between different departments. Other objectives were to determine whether work experience and the type of department have impact on answers in the questionnaire. Methods: The research sample consisted of 102 nurses and midwives working at the Obstetrics and gynaecology department of University hospital Ostrava. Research was conducted by using a standardized Meisteov´s questionnaire to assess neuropshycic load supplemented by demographic questions. Examining survey was conducted between August and October 2011. Result: The investigation of the neuropsychological burden detected the monotony in all departments except the results obtained at the Operating theater department, where light load in the analysis of variance was shown. This means that the burden represents no threat to health, subjective status and performance of involved subjects. Also a significant difference in 4th sub-goal hypothesis and partial goal 11 in respect of separation and conflict was shown, when the nurses working at the Operating rooms department identified their work as an environment where they experience the most conflict. When evaluating individual items of the questionnaire no influence of work experience on individual answers was shown. Conclusion: This thesis has brought some positive results concerning the neuropsychological workload and overall well-being of nurses and midwives working at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of University Hospital Ostrava. These results may not only work as a specific impulse, but also as an inspiration for hospital management and also for professionals who are not indifferent to satisfaction of health workers, from which it is required and expected to be highly educated professionals who manage reliably challenging situations and problems, because every day character ofduty brings them and controls the duty itself. Most of the stress factors in health care teams cannot be controled, but can be mitigated in is some way. Hospital management and direct supervisors of health workers can provide professional psychological help in the form of consultations with a psychologist or vocational courses of psychoprophylaxis and assertiveness.
