Active crossover for loudspeaker

Abstract:

Cílem práce je prostudovat teorii reproduktorových výhybek, jejich typy, výhody a nevýhody, navrhnout a zkonstruovat dvoukanálovou aktivní analogovou výhybku se třemi pásmy a zpožďovacími obvody. Důvod pro její realizaci je částečně dán nedostatečným množstvím kvalitních výrobků na trhu a částečně i výhodami modulární konstrukce, která umožňuje sestavení libovolně konfigurovatelného zařízení pro zpracování signálu. Dalším důvodem pro konstrukci tohoto přístroje je zbytečnost použití digitálních systémů v jednodušších aplikacích a fakt, že kvalitní digitální systémy jsou stále drahé. Konstrukce analogové výhybky se skládá z jednotlivých modulů, které jsou samostatně funkční a použitelné ve více typech a konfiguracích zařízení. Výhybka je realizována jako "state-variable" filtr topologie Linkwitz-Riley se strmostí 24 dB na oktávu, která je v analogových výhybkách běžně používaná. Zpožďovací obvody jsou realizovány sériovým spojením dvou obvodů prvního řádu a dosahují zpoždění až 4 ms. Korekce hlasitosti jsou realizovány jako aktivní obvody, což přináší lepší odstup signálu od šumu.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to study the theory of loudspeaker crossovers, their types, advantages and disadvantages; design and construct the two-channel active analog crossover with three bands and delay units. The major reason for this realization is partly due to an insufficient amount of high-quality products on the market and partly also to the advantages of modular structure, that allows the assembly of arbitrarily configurable device for signal processing. Another reason for the construction of this device was the futility of the usage of digital systems in simpler applications and the fact that high-quality digital systems are still expensive. The design of this analogue crossover consists of individual modules that they function independently and may be used in multiple devices and configurations. The crossover is implemented as a state-variable filter Linkwitz-Riley topology with 24 dB/Oct. roll off slope, which is in analogue crossovers commonly used. The delay circuits are implemented as a serial connection of two first order delay circuits with range up to 4 ms. The volume corrections are designed as active gain controls, which provides a better signal to noise ratio.
