Comparison of innate ideas of John Locke and Wilhelm Leibniz

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je porovnání děl Johna Locka a Wilhelma Leibnize, konkrétně jejich odlišných názorů na téma vrozených idejí. V úvodu práce jsme shrnuli autory, kteří se zabývali stejným tématem (Aristoteles, Platón a Descartes), avšak dobově předcházeli Lockovi a Leibnizovi. Následují obecné znaky empirismu a racionalismu a taktéž život a dílo obou autorů. Hlavní částí práce je popis vrozených idejí u Locka a Leibnize a v závěru se pokoušíme tyto myšlenky porovnat.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare the works of John Locke and Wilhelm Leibniz with focus on their different opinions about innate ideas. At the beginning of the work is a brief summary of other authors who dealt with the same theme (Aristoteles, Plato and Descartes) but historically preceded Locke and Leibniz. In the following chapters are general characteristics of empiricism and rationalism, and also the life and work of both authors. The main part of the work deals with the description of Locke's and Leibniz's innate ideas. And in the end we try to compare their ideas.
