Language specifics of electronic communication

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je podat analýzu a hodnocení jazykových prostředků užívaných v internetové komunikaci, resp. v textech e-mailů a na chatu. Analyzovaný materiál tvoří texty shromážděné z internetového serveru www.xchat.cz a e-maily reklamního, obchodního, pracovního i jiného, ovšem formálního charakteru. V práci je analyzována jak lexikální, tak gramatická a stylistická stránka s ohledem na specifické podmínky vzniku textů. Analyzovány jsou i prvky nejazykové, konkrétně používání symbolů pro neverbální komunikaci. Analýza je uspořádaná podle jednotlivých prvků, které byly zkoumány ve všech textech (zvlášť pro e-maily a pro chatové ukázky), například specifika oslovení a rozloučení u e-mailů nebo slovotvorba na chatu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to give analysis and evaluation of language means used within the Internet communication, respectively texts of e-mails and chat. The analysed material has been represented by texts obtained from the Interne server www.xchat.cz and e-mails of an advertisement, business, work and other character, all of them being formal. The thesis analyses lexical, grammar and stylistic level of the texts with a view to specific conditions of their origin. The author concentrates also of the non-verbal means, especially usage of symbols for non-verbal communication. The analysis has been ordered according to individual elements, which were been focused on in all the texts (separately for e-mails and chat text samples), e.g. specifics of addressing and saying goodbye within e-mails, or word-formation on chat.
