Anotácia:

Cílem této práce je analyzovat umělecká díla vytvořená potomky původních obyvatel Austrálie, jejich vliv na současnou moderní společnost a schopnost navodit změnu. Práce jako taková je rozdělena na dvě části. První, teoretická, se zaměřuje na historii Austrálie a s tím spojenou kolonizaci, kvůli které došlo ke vzniku řady asimilačních politik. Ty zapříčinily útlak jedinečných identit domorodých národů a daly prostor diskriminaci. Druhá, analytická část, se zabývá samotným uměním a kreativně-aktivistickou tvorbou vybraných umělců. I když je každý jedinečný, existují určité podobnosti v tom, jaká témata zpracovávají a jaké poskytují názory. Díla se však výrazně liší formou a stylem. Společně nicméně zvyšují povědomí o nedbalém zacházení s Australskou domorodou menšinou, jejím nepřijatelným zobrazením v médiích a varují před homogenizací její kultury.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to analyse the artworks created by the descendants of Australia’s Indigenous peoples, their impact on present modern society, and their ability to induce change. As such, the thesis is divided into two parts; the first, the theoretical one, focuses on Australia’s history and the accompanying colonialism, which resulted in the formation of many assimilation politics. These led to the persecution of Indigenous peoples’ distinct identities, as well as discrimination. The second, analytical part, concentrates on art and the artistic activist practices of selected artists. Though each of them is unique, there are certain similarities in what topics they cover and the perspectives they offer. Yet, they differ substantially in form and aesthetic. Nevertheless, they all raise awareness of Australia’s Indigenous minority’s neglectful treatment, its inappropriate portrayal in the media, and warn against the homogenization of their cultures.
