Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na téma pragmatiky ve výuce anglického jazyka, především v prostředí českého středního školství. Je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol – první se soustředí na teoretický základ a následující kapitoly nastiňují tři oblasti výzkumu.Cílem první kapitoly je vysvětlit pojem pragmatiky a objasnit její pozici v pedagogice jazyka. Faktory, které ovlivňují výuku pragmatiky, jako je prostředí , metody výuky , či role učitele a učebnice jsou také součástí této kapitoly.Druhá kapitola přináší stručný průzkum, který je zaměřen na zkušenosti a přístup středoškolských učitelů vůči výuce pragmatiky. Výsledky dotazníků dokazují, že učitelé při svém vysokoškolském studiu neabsolvovali formální výuku, jak učit pragmatice, a že nepovažují výuku pragmatiky za prioritu. Dotazníky také poskytly informace týkající se nejpoužívanějších titulů učebnic pro střední školy.Tyto učebnice jsou analyzovány ve třetí kapitole, kdy je důraz kladen především na rozsah vhodných materiálů pro výuku pragmatiky v učebnicích pro studenty a přítomnost metapragmatických informací v učitelských příručkách. Výsledky analýzy lze zobecnit tak, že přestože všechny učenice propagují komunikativní kompetence, pragmatických jevů se v nich nalézá málo a chybí komplexní přístup k výuce pragmatiky. Ani příručky pro učitele neposkytují potřebnou oporu a dostatek informací. Poslední kapitola se pokouší nastínit možnosti, jakými lze upravit stávající materiály. Jsou vytyčeny tři oblasti, pro které je vytvořena řada cvičení. Týkají se výuky řečových aktů, konkrétně omluvy, dále zdvořilosti a řízení konverzace. Tato cvičení byla následně vyzkoušena v praxi a komentář k těmto hodinám je součástí této kapitoly.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of pragmatics in ELT, namely in the environment of Czech secondary schools. It is divided into four chapters – the first chapter concentrates on the theoretical background and the following chapters present three research areas.The aim of Chapter 1 is to outline the scopes of pragmatics and to explain position of pragmatics in language pedagogy. Factors influencing pragmatic instruction are discussed.In Chapter 2, a brief survey is presented to examine the experience and attitude of secondary school teachers towards pragmatic instruction. The questionnaire results conclude that respondents did not receive any formal instruction how to teach pragmatics during their teacher training course, and that they do not perceive teaching pragmatics as a priority. From the questionnaires, titles of five commonly used coursebooks are drawn.The coursebooks are analyzed in Chapter 3, with the focus on pragmatic input in students’ books and metapragmatic information in teacher’s books. The results from the analyses can be summarized as follows- despite the coursebooks’ promotion of communicative skills, the pragmatic input is not extensive and a complex and systematic approach is absent. Teacher’s handbooks do not offer a sufficient support and metapragmatic information which is needed for successful pragmatic instruction.The last chapter offers options and ideas for coursebook adaptation. It deals with three main aspects, which are speech acts, namely apologies, politeness and conversation management. Tasks designed for this purpose have been tested and reflections on the trial lessons are included.
