CCD photometry of open cluster M37

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je provést CCD fotometrii otevřené hvězdokupy M37 a z těchto měření zjistit její základní charakteristiky. Úvodní kapitoly obsahují obecný přehled o hvězdokupách, zejména otevřených. Následují kapitoly věnované H-R diagramu, fotometrii a CCD. V neposlední řadě je uveden i souhrn poznatků o hvězdokupě M37. V praktické části jsou shrnuty výsledky pozorování a následuje zpracování CCD snímků. Jsou sestrojeny barevné diagramy, díky nimž byla zjištěna vzdálenost, stáří a chemické složení. Nakonec je provedeno srovnání mých výsledků s hodnotami publikovanými v odborných článcích.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to perform CCD photometry of open cluster M37 and to find out its basic characteristics from this measurements. Introductory chapter contain general survey about clusters, especially open clusters. The chapters referring to H-R diagram, photometry and CCD follow. Last but not least a complex of knowledge of M37 is adduced. In practice section the results of observations are recapitulated and the processing of CCD photos follows. The colour-magnitude diagrams are constructed, thanks to which distance, age and chemical composition were found out. At the end the comparison of my results with the findings that have been published in scientific essays is shown.
