Abstract:

Disertační práce Čech v německé Olomouci, Němec v české Litovli na přelomu 19. a 20. století (vliv individuality na samosprávný vývoj města na příkladu Carla Mekisky a Richarda Fischera) se zabývá obdobím národnostích třenic ve městech Olomouc a Litovel, a to z perspektivy dvou výrazných osobností tehdejšího politického dění. Na jedné straně je to Carl Mekiska, do roku 1899 německý starosta Litovle, na straně druhé Richard Fischer, dlouholetý aktivista za české zájmy a po Velké válce starosta Olomouce. Práce popisuje okolnosti a metody politického boje, stejně jako významné mezníky jejich politických osudů. Vše je zasazeno do rámce legislativních změn a vzniku samostatných obcí a samospráv.

Abstract:

The thesis Czech in German Olomouc, German in Czech Litovel at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (the influence of individuality on the self-governing development of the city on the example of Carl Mekiska and Richard Fischer) deals with the period of nationality friction in the towns of Olomouc and Litovel from the perspective of two prominent personalities of the political scene of the time. On the one hand is Carl Mekiska, the German mayor of Litovel until 1899, and on the other hand Richard Fischer, a long-time activist for Czech interests and mayor of Olomouc after the Great War. The thesis describes the circumstances and methods of their political struggle, as well as important milestones in their political fates. Everything is set in the context of legislative changes and the establishment of independent municipalities and local governments.
